Hi Carolina, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstories with our readers.
My gratitude to you for this opportunity to share my story. I have had the privilege of serving as a Physical Therapist for 17 years now, having worked in a variety of settings including hospitals, rehabilitation clinics, and medical spas both here in the United States and abroad. My journey in this field began with a Bachelor’s Degree in Physical Therapy from the University of Bahia in Brazil, and I am also licensed in Massage Therapy and Lymphatic Drainage Therapy.
My love for helping others heal dates back to my childhood when I was involved in animal rescue and always had a fascination with medicine. This curiosity led me to my studies in Physical Therapy at the University of Bahia, where I was fortunate enough to learn unique techniques for post-operative recovery not commonly found in other Physical Therapy programs. My time studying abroad in Spain further enriched my understanding of treatments and techniques.
However, a great loss in my life changed my path. The sudden passing of my grandfather and father, while I was in the midst of completing my master’s degree in Physical Therapy in Brazil, prompted me to reassess my life and make the difficult decision to start anew in the United States. Despite the challenges of adapting to a new language and culture and rebuilding my life with limited resources, I persevered and have been successful in establishing myself as a sought-after therapist in Houston.
I am proud to own and operate Carolina Pintos Therapy, providing exceptional postoperative care to individuals with a wide range of needs, including esthetic concerns, post-surgical recovery for cosmetic and non-cosmetic procedures, pre- and post-partum care, cancer rehabilitation, and more. My protocol for preventing and managing post-surgical complications, informed by Japanese, French, and Brazilian practices, has earned the admiration of Houston-based surgeons and is exclusively taught and implemented at my practice.
My goal is always to provide my patients with informed, high-quality therapy services and prioritize their comfort and safety. I am grateful for the opportunity to offer unique and effective treatments that help them achieve their desired results. Thank you for this chance to share my story.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way? Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
It was a long and winding road that brought me from the bustling streets of Brazil to the heart of Houston, Texas. I had always felt the pull of the United States, but it wasn’t until the loss of my father that I realized the time for me to take that leap of faith had come. I knew that I needed to make a change, to escape the constant fear and insecurity that plagued my life in Brazil and to pursue a better future for myself.
Leaving behind my beloved country was no small feat. Brazil is a place of incredible beauty, vibrant culture, and unparalleled medical expertise. It was in Brazil that I honed my skills as a physical therapist, surrounded by some of the greatest cosmetic surgeons in the world. I will always be grateful for my upbringing there, for the education and experience that has shaped me into the therapist I am today. But as much as I loved Brazil, I could not ignore the reality of life there. Crime was rampant, and many jobs, particularly in healthcare, were not paying enough to support a decent standard of living. I knew that the United States offered a level of safety and opportunity that I could not find in my homeland. And so I forged ahead, determined to make my dream a reality. I poured all of my passion and expertise into building Carolina Pintos Therapy, a clinic that would set a new standard for post-surgery and esthetics care in Houston. I am proud to say that today, we are a leading clinic in the area, renowned for our commitment to high-quality care, superior medical knowledge, and excellent customer service.
Looking back on my journey, I would not say that it has been an easy one. But it has been a rich and rewarding one, full of lessons and growth. I have learned that the road to success is often paved with hardship and uncertainty, but that the rewards are all the sweeter for it. I have learned that the greatest reward of all is the ability to make a positive impact in the lives of others, to help them heal and to bring comfort to those in need. So I will continue on this path, ever mindful of the lessons and experiences that have brought me to this place, and ever grateful for the opportunities that lie ahead. For I know that as long as I am guided by my passion and my commitment to excellence, there is no limit to what I can achieve.

Are there any books, apps, podcasts, or blogs that help you do your best?
As a Physical Therapist, it is of utmost importance to stay informed and up-to-date on the latest advancements and techniques in the field in order to provide the best possible care to my patients. That’s why I make it a point to regularly educate myself on the latest developments in the medical industry. There are many great books, apps, podcasts, and blogs that have helped me along the way. Let me recommend a few of the best in the medical industry, specifically those that focus on techniques in plastic surgery that reduce fibrosis and complications and on how to properly treat them.
First, I would highly recommend “Fibrosis and Wound Healing in Plastic and Aesthetic Surgery” by Dr. Marcelo Ghersi. This comprehensive text covers the latest techniques and best practices for reducing fibrosis and minimizing complications in plastic surgery. Another great resource is “Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery: Principles and Practice” by Dr. Luiz Sérgio de Souza. This comprehensive text covers the latest techniques and best practices in plastic surgery and includes a section dedicated to fibrosis and post-op complications.
For podcasts, “Plastic Surgery Insights” is a great resource that features interviews with leading plastic surgeons and experts in the field, including those from Europe and Brazil.
Lastly, blogs such as “The Aesthetic Journal” and “European Society of Plastic, Reconstructive, and Aesthetic Surgery” are great sources of information on the latest developments and research in the field, including cutting-edge techniques. By regularly reading and engaging with these resources, I am able to stay ahead of the curve and provide the best possible care to my patients.
